Now What?

Not happy, but I am holding on...

Have you ever been in a position where you feel that it's not working?

I know I want to be a writer, I know I am a writer cos I love to write.
But it's so frustrating when it's so difficult to get someone professional to read your work. It's even more frustrating when after they have read it, they feel it wasn't that great.

Now what?

Do I just dump it and not continue again?
Is writing really my calling?
Maybe I should stick my head somewhere else, and just limit the writing to my diary and for my eyes only....

Hmm

I know we have to work at it, and they say practice makes perfect, but for how long will I have to write to be noticed in the publishing world?
How long do I have to endure the rejection before it finally comes out?

When they ask me what is my style sometimes I don't even know what to say... I go on a long explanation road of how my first book talked about kids on an adventure, my second book about a grandmother and her granddaughter, and blah blah blah...
Most of the time as I speak I watch the impatience in the listeners ears...they are like..." oh boy will she just hurry up and let us go....or why didn't she just tell us that she writes fictions, or she is an essay writer or creative writer or something..........

It's hard my dears I must say, but what in life isn't hard at first...

I guess after brooding for a while I will just have to stand up and continue...
For no one can determine the destiny of another man,
For no one knows tomorrow...

Food 4 Thought

Something inspirational again...
I guess the book review will have to wait another day, but don't worry will still do a bit of it, trust me...
Before I say anything, will like to say this: " I had a meeting today with a new friend of mine and it was awesome. I learnt a lot and I am sure she did to.. It seems that making friends, especially with people who think like I do, has become a new hobby for me..lol, but I think it's cool..
Thank you Bookie.

Someone sent this to me and I said who better to share this with, than all my followers who have become very dear to my heart....

"Dan Miller

"This concept comes from a book, read in a classic little book...

"Dare you"

A professor once hit upon a great discovery while buttoning up his vest. Or rather, he hit upon the discovery because his vest wouldn't button up. His little daughter had sewn up some of the buttonholes by mistake. His fingers were going along as usual in their most intricate operations of buttoning a button, when something happened. A button wouldn't button.

His fingers fumbled helplessly for a moment, then sent out a call for help. His mind woke up. The eyes looked down.....A new idea was born, or rather a new understanding of an old idea. What the professor had discovered is that fingers can remember. You know how automatic things can become, riding a bicycle, using a keyboard, or even driving home from the office.

Then the professor began playing pranks on his classes, and he found the answer was always the same. As long as they can keep on doing the things they had always done, their minds wouldn't work. It was only when he figuratively sewed up their button holes, stole their notebooks, locked the doors, upset their routine, that any thinking was done.

So he came to the great, and now generally accepted, conclusion that the mind of a man is "an emergency organ". That it relegates everything possible to automatic functions as long as it is able, and that it is only when the old order of things won't work any longer that it gets on the job and starts working. Keeping things the same may be keeping you stupid.

Maybe that job loss is an opportunity for your brain to wake up and discover meaningful work rather than just a pay cheque. Maybe having the bank refuse your loan application will prompt your brain to come up with a better solution. Maybe that flat tire will trigger a great invention that will make you a millionaire. Maybe the warning about high blood pressure will wake you up to better health and richer relationships....

Hmm this really is some food for thought... I have always known that necessity is the mother of invention...
Quick question:
Have you asked yourself why America and Europe are developed? (Now apart from the slave trade and all).?...

For me I will say that it has to do with what they don't have...
In Africa, we have everything at our disposal, good weather, abundance of natural resources and limited natural disasters etc, maybe that is why we still think the same way..

"Notez Bien: even after all this in my mind I know that there is hope for Africa, and the day will come when it will no longer be associated with hunger, poverty, corruption etc, but with wealth, natural resources, development and the good things life has to offer....

This is my opinion I will like to hear us....

Ciao

Inspirational.....

Hello everyone and how are you? I have had some new followers and I want to say thank you so much... I love reading your comments, they are so overwhelming...
Thank you. You guys are the best...

Today's recipe was sent to my blackberry a while ago and I think it will be so meaningful in our lives... I am not sure if it is true...but I still learnt a lot.....
I have to say that cos I don't want one of the big companies to come and sue little me..lol..

"The difference between MTN & Etisalat is called season.
MTN came to Nigeria at a time when nobody wanted to invest in Nigeria, at a time when Nigerians did not have phones. Even Zenith bank refused to loan MTN cash to operate, UBA rejected MTN's offer but today they see the difference.

At least we all know the story of the only civilian unelected president in Nigeria-Goodluck Jonathan. We know how the people said he was not going to be president, they even made him acting-president. Today the rest is history.

What about Cowbell?
When they came to Nigeria, they made milk in a sachet, Peak was laughing at them-they said Cowbell was milk for the poor-but they were right. 3million poor people could afford #10 (just a few cents) a day for a sachet of milk. Do the math 3million people buying milk at #10= #30million every single day. (i.e. about $193,600 every day). In a month they grossed #900-million (almost #1billion). (i.e. about $5.9million a month). Even Peak had to make sachet milk in order to survive in the market.

So what have people told you? What have they said you cannot do, you do not qualify for, you do not have experience for?

They told Cowbell, they told Goodluck, they told MTN but the story has changed. I get the feeling that something is changing in you! Don't listen to what people are saying or what life is showing you. Keep trusting God and confessing what you want to see.....

For me I am of the school of thought that any body can learn anything, anybody can achieve anything, so long as they believe it.

Notez bien : For my none naija readers...MTN is the first telecommunications company to come into Nigeria a few years back..

Cowbell is a milk company and also Peak.

What are your dreams? Passion? Those things you have long pushed under the bed? You can share...You can decide not to....But know one thing you can do it....

P.S. just listening to a young man sing and his voice is so nice..Lovely, that kind of voice, once heard can't be forgotten..... And to believe that 2 years ago he couldn't sing...He auditioned for the church choir and failed woefully....

Hott Info

Hey everyone, saying welcome to our new members: thank you so much for supporting this blog and I wish you a happy new year.

Now back to the gist of the day...

I heard this hot gist yesterday and I couldn't sleep... Tyra Banks interviewed a lady who started a blog and in 3 weeks she had like 100,000 hits...OMG.... How come?

I have been a blogger since November 2009 and I don't have that many followers, what am I saying: I don't even have up to a quarter of what she has....

How did she do it?
What sort of magic did she work?

Been cracking my brain, and then it hit me... The name of her blog....

Do you really want to know what the name of her blog is ? Well here it is..... " http://myhusbandisannoying.com...

Quickly I checked it out and you will not believe it, she just writes daily things that her husband does, which anyone married understands...Stuffs like leaving his dirty socks on the couch.....HMMMM
That is just it and she has become popular, she gets like 318 responses or comments for a post...Whaooooo!!!!! Please help me before I faint.......lol

Hmm!!!!! me I have told my hubby that I will soon change my blog, rename it don't you think, to maybe.... myhusbandisannoying/african woman......lol...

Who knows I may surpass her hits like 1,000,000 in a month or something crazy......

The bottom line is that she has challenged me as a blogger...

Every blogger or aspiring blogger should, before commencing your journey as a blogger, should think of what they want to blog about, your target audience, and methods by which you can be famous.....

I am serious working on IT and I will get back to you shortly....

P.S: don't think I have forgotten about our book review ...." Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill...just giving us time to get the book and read it....

Please if you have some tips as to how to grow one's blog subscription, followers, fame etc feel free to share, cos I am really in need of some...

Ciao.

A Letter To God & His response

Dear God,
Where are you? How can You watch and not help me? I hurt so bad, and You don't even care. If you cared You'd make it stop or let me die. I love You but you seem so far away. I can't hear You or feel You or see You, but i'm supposed to believe that You are here. Lord, I feel them and hear them. They are here. I know You are real, God, but they are more real to me right now. Please make someone believe me, Lord. Why won't You make it stop? Please, Lord, please! If You love me You'll let me die.
-A Lost Sheep

My Dear Lost Sheep

You ask me where I am. My child, I am with you and I always will be. You are weak, but in Me you are strong. I love you so much that I can't let you die. I am so close that feel everything you feel.
I know what you are going through, for I am going through it with you. But I have set you free you must stand firm. You do not need to die physically for my enemies to be gone, but be crucified with Me and I will live in you, and you shall live with Me. I will direct you in paths of righteousness. My child, I love you and I will never forsake you, for you are truly mine.

-Love, God.

This is a letter I stumbled upon as I read " The Bondage Breaker" by Neil Anderson. It touched me so much and I felt I should share it with my readers. For I know that once in a while we all feel this way, as though God is not there with us, as though He doesn't feel our pain at all. I hope this letter touches you as it did for me...

Extreme Make Over Home Edition

Hello everyone happy belated christmas and a wonderful new year in advance. Saying welcome to our new members: Steve Hawley, Lloyd 1948 & Covnitkepr1...Thank you for becoming a part of secretlilies...

Now back to the topic of the day.. Extreme Make Over Home Edition
I spent the whole of christmas and the better part of boxing day watching this show on BBC lifestyle channel. They had the special edition so they showed a lot of the works they had done...Now for those of you who don't know what this show is about...Its a reality television series hosted by Ty Pennington, where they renovate homes for the less fortunate families who have been affected by one disaster, illness or the other....

I spent my christmas like I said, tucked beside my hubby, crying, laughing and thanking God for the good, life changing gifts Ty and his group gave numerous families, and believe me it was the most gratifying thing to do.... Some of them got (i.e. in addition to the renovation of their houses) new cars, trucks, scholarship for their children university/college tuition, family vacations abroad, health care, mortgage paid, and especially beautifully furnished, designed homes fit for kings and queens....

Lesson learnt:

there is one thing to make money but if you ask me it's so gratifying if you can use your money to make a difference around you.... Meeting people at the points of their needs should be our goals as we all cross over into the new year....

I love Ty Pennington not for anything but for the fact that he is associated with a program that gives hope to the hopeless....

If I am asked which celebrity will I like to meet, without hesitation I will say Ty Pennington and his crew for they will be remembered for the good they have brought into the homes of families who thought all hope was lost......

Once again I wish you merry christmas and a happy new year.

Notez Bien:

"the hour has come to write down our goals and what we want to achieve in the new year. I urge you to think it through thoroughly before you write it down...
For me my number one goal is to touch the lives of people around me........ What about you?
